Ultra-Raw Kegety
Since the very start we have always had a desire to produce a raw version of our frames but to date the only real option to do this has been building in stainless steel. Now we’re pleased to say we have got a technique nailed down and a finish that looks just awesome.
For this frame we worked with a finishers who have perfected the process of clear coating frames using the powder method. First the frame is dipped in a bath of phosphor which gives the frame its distinct colour, but more importantly removes oxidisation and acts as an inhibitor against further rust formation. The frame then has its logos applied in a heat resistant paint before going through the usual powder process. The end result gives us a raw frame, in a durable finish with a rust inhibitor inside and out.
It is worth noting that over time oxidisation will occur but this process is slowed and hindered dramatically using the technique outlined above. The beauty of this process though is it is easy, and quick to reapply. You no longer need to worry about that expensive paint finish.
To celebrate the release of this new finish we put together a signature Kegety with the new Columbus Futura Cross+ fork in raw carbon. With it’s extra cargo capacity and dynamo routing, the Futura Cross+ compliments the Kegety gravel bike’s ruggedness even better with a durable raw finish.
